The Qualification
Level 2 Award in Awareness of End of Life Care (RQF) is regulated by Ofqual.
Qualification Purpose
Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection provides learners with the opportunity to
develop knowledge and understanding of the prevention and control of infections including
legislation, policies, systems and procedures relating to prevention and control of infections. Also
covered are the importance of risk assessment and of using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); the
causes and transmission of infection; cleaning, good waste management practice and
decontamination. It will prepare learners to progress to a qualification in the same or another subject
area and prepare them for employment.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level one in
literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.
Progression
Successful learners can progress to other qualifications such as:
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care
- Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare and Social Care Support Skills
Structure
Learners must achieve seven credits from the three mandatory units
