Introduction to the Qualification

Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health First Aid and Wellbeing Advocacy in Schools (RQF) is regulated by
Ofqual. The qualification was developed in association with The Skills Network (TSN). TSN are an
online learning and skills training provider that is underpinned by market-leading technology and
have proudly supported over 1.6 million learners over the past decade develop life-long skills and
learnings.

Qualification Purpose

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Learners with the knowledge to support those with
mental health conditions and the knowledge to carry out the role of Mental Health First Aider within
the school environment.

This qualification can support the upskilling needs of individuals in job roles and safeguarding
responsibilities, for example:

  • teachers
  • teaching assistants (TAs/HLTAs)
  • safeguarding leads (as required by Ofsted)
  • school support staff
  • nursey support staff
  • student support roles.

This qualification can be delivered in schools, colleges, private training providers and other
educational settings, alongside existing curriculums or on its own.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, however learners should have a minimum of level two in
literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
Learners may benefit from having access to a school environment when completing the qualification, although this is not mandatory.
The recommended minimum age for this qualification is 16 years.

Progression

Successful learners can progress to other qualifications such as:

  • Level 3 Award for Mental Health Trainers
  • Level 3 Award in Teaching and Assessing Mental Health Qualifications
  • Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
  • Level 4 Certificate in Mental Health Aware Leadership.

This qualification may assist with CPD of Learners in job roles such as:

  • teachers
  • teaching assistants (TAs/HLTAs)
  • safeguarding leads (as required by Ofsted)
  • school support staff
  • nursey support staff
  • student support roles.
